I really like and recommend the all natural licorices you can find in the grocery stores, and specialty candy shops. It's a little more expensive but it tastes way better and still, you don't buy so dang much candy at once.

Re: All Natural Halloween Candy Alternatives

https://www.createspace.com...

Check out this book, it helps to give you an alternative to having your kids eat loads of junk!

The Switch Witch
By Charity A. Today that is probably considered unsafe.

Re: All Natural Halloween Candy Alternatives

Oh that is really interesting. My sister in law found out 2 months ago she can only have gluten free products and it's really refreshing and a relief that she can get them at a price that fits her budget since most of the 'Wal-Mart brand' products are gluten free. it's really helped her adjust her diet to this without loosing a little bit of the things she loves (like cheese lol)

Re: All Natural Halloween Candy Alternatives

I never knew how much organic candy there is out there.

Re: All Natural Halloween Candy Alternatives

OOO, Those mint patties look good to me! I haven't taken the girls out to get candy trick or treating yet but I definitely do not want the Halloween sugar coma for them!

Re: All Natural Halloween Candy Alternatives

What a great idea!!!! It really does make you think when you think about all the junk in that candy.

Re: All Natural Halloween Candy Alternatives

Growing up as a kid i was allergic to red dye #40 and could not have anything containing it. That pretty much eliminated all red, orange, or purple candies, sodas, or drinks. It was hard as a kid but the stuff made me hyper and break out in hives. It was horrible!

For all holidays in which the kids get candy we have what we call the candy box. Specifically on Halloween we allow then to have one piece when trick or treat is over and then the rest goes in the candy box and they are allowed to have a piece on occassion (except for reeses and kitkats which usually get eaten by me and daddy lol). When the next holida rolls around we throw all the old candy out and fill itup again (unless we recycle it into a christmas stocking or something lol)

Re: All Natural Halloween Candy Alternatives

Wow, you seriously just gave me a wake up call. This is the first year Hannah will go trick or treating (to like 3 houses! she is only 2) but I didn't think about all the gross chemicals in candy now. she doesn't ever get candy so it might be quite the shock to her system even if she only has one or two pieces. Thanks for the kick in the butt!!

Re: All Natural Halloween Candy Alternatives

When I buy my kids candy, I buy it from the German market we have here or the international aisle at the grocery store. The stuff imported from Germany and Japan just don't have the dyes like American candy does - especially red dye. They use a lot of beet root to color the red stuff.

Re: All Natural Halloween Candy Alternatives

I found this post from a Twitter link (via @kingdomfirstmom) and I am so excited!! We were planning on going to a fall festival this year with our kids, but I always hate all the candy they bring home.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the idea of trading the candy they get for organic or natural candy!

Thanks!
