Crazy Adventures in Parenting: Matern-Eternity

It can be a difficult decision to make indeed. For my sister, she breezed through that; anything she doesn't need anymore will be out of the house.

Oh man do i get this! It is hard to part with a certain part or stage of your life. As i have made the decision that this will be our last i find my heart screaming at times. It reminds me that this will be the last little newborn clothes, the last crib, the last time i feel a baby kick in my belly, the last time i hold a child for hours just staring at the perfectness that is a newborn baby. And in those time my heart and my head just do not seem to agree.

Oh my I hear you Lisa! Except I did this a year and a half ago and then we had to move so I got rid of it all and then along came baby Willy! But he is it and I have been giving everything away to a friend as soon as he grows out of it but each time it is sad! I do have a box of a few things that I have not been able to part with, a few favorites that all six children have worn! Good luck! Take lots of pictures!

Girl, that's what they made those big Rubbermaid tubs for! Put that stuff in the attic. Especially if your back, body, and brain say no more. Getting rid of that stuff causes pregnancy, ya know! Happened to me twice!

    LOL

I'm hearin' ya. I don't want to be done...

Each time I gave away maternity clothes and baby clothes I ended up being pregnant. I stopped that cycle by getting my tubes tied. Well, that was good anyway since we are finalizing the divorce. I think I have enough kids and two dads are enough. ... Okay, where di that come from? Geez!

Congrats on cleaning up... sorry about the allergies... and I know exactly what you mean about the baby memories. I have a little memory box for the kids so that the most special and memorable are held onto. Some stuff is given to Goodwill and others are given to people who I know can really use them.

What if you cut a square form your favorites to make a quilt? Whenever we travel or go somewhere fun, I buy the boys a t-shirt that says where we were. My DH used to roll his eyes, and of course I know it's a tourist trap and the t-shirts are marked up, but I save each one as they out grow them and put them away to have a quilt made for them when they're older. I also saved my favorite outfits of theirs to add to them as well.

I know what you mean. It's funny how things like clothes can represent so many memories, feelings and thoughts that are so hard to part with. Great post! Loving your blog.

What is it about us that can't resist that sweeet little bundle in our arms? Is it that baby fresh smell? The -precious adorable only-a-baby-can-wear clothes? Is it the cuddling in our arms?
No, no, and no! I've slathered on baby lotion and powder, bought the cutest newborn clothes for my daughter's dolls, and let's face it, I've cradled many a teddy bear in my arms...Must be the feeling of having another human being totally and completely dependent on me...hey, wait, isn't that what my husband is for???
